Frozen Dialogues |
"Frozen Dialogues" Hamburger Bahnhof Museum Für Gegenwart for Festival of Future Nows 2017 We communicate in very sophisticated nuances of spoken language. We share our knowledge through generations in many forms. Among these forms, books are important for sharing information, culture and wisdom while shaping our world culturally, politically, socially and religiously. Books can have their own personality. They can be scary, friendly, destructive, authoritative or nostalgic. Books speak to us very personally. Through books, we can imagine our own reality and create our own conceptual landscapes, mental landscapes and events. The performance takes form in the artist’s interactions with a stack of different books. He wraps his body, binding books to himself with plastic bands. He experiments with different speeds of movement: slow motion, fast forward and with pauses, creating a silent dialogue, a rhythm of encounters with concepts, rules and thoughts from the selected books. The audience is encouraged to interact and invited to leave thoughts and comments on the plastic bands used to wrap, position and fix the books during the performance. |
