National Anthem

This is a duo sound installation piece I Installed in Oct 2016 in Goramayne Art centre in Ethiopia, the white noise of a radio complimented by a sound of boiling tea. both are metaphorical objects for daily repetitive morning rituals, we boil tea and we hear news on the radio almost every day. in my childhood this radio was a very important electronic object in our home we used to have a big respect to it, we heard the regime change through this radio, my parents play religious songs every day with it. In contrast with this, the teapot is also another important object in my marriage life, it is an object that proves the priority I have for my wife, as she is every morning expecting me to boil a tea for her before doing anything else.
