Upcoming Dead lines

This installation, presented at the Lapidarium Museum in Novigrad, Croatia, is part of the 16th International Festival of Visual Arts – Arteria. Curated by Goran Tomić in collaboration with museum director Dr. Jerica Ziherl, the festival provided a framework for engaging with contemporary environmental concerns.
The work takes the form of a kinetic tornado made entirely of discarded plastic collected from the island and its surroundings. Plastic bags, bottles,Flipflops, food packaging, and random fragments are assembled into a swirling vertical structure. When set into motion, the installation appears like a vortex – both fragile and threatening.
The title Upcoming Deadline refers to the time pressure we face in addressing climate change and plastic pollution. The tornado symbolises a crisis that is already in motion and difficult to stop. At the same time, by using local waste collected with community involvement, the work shows that this crisis is not abstract; it is tied to very specific places and habits.
Conceptually, the installation continues my exploration of motion as an ecological language. While the waterfall in Plastic Fall Version evokes flow and repetition, and Stream of Waste suggests horizontal circulation, the tornado embodies instability, turbulence, and an impending tipping point.
